It was fantastic to be invited into the Royal Library to help with the redesign of the template and layout for presentation gift books, handed out to dignitaries on state visits both home and abroad. In this instance, it was a gift of an album of photographs and ephemera from the the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the Norwegian royal family. The images selected were all taken from the Royal Collection, printed in house and then tipped into the pages of a hand-bound album, produced in the bindery.
Special attention was paid to the paper used for the album (the same 160gsm Heritage stock as a previously produced one off book for the Royal Household) because the grain direction needed to be folded a certain way. Once the printed sheets were gathered they were then taken to the bindery and trimmed, bound (with gold leaf to finish) and pressed ready for presentation.
