A first for me in terms of working with both Scala Publishers and an institution in the Middle East, Dubai College proved to be a relatively straight forward project when it came to the client and the material.
Without the advantage of having commissioned photography, we had to maximise the use of the archive images and create a design that complimented the space of the College and its geographical location. Working closely with the editor and headmaster, we had the freedom to produce something that didn’t overly conform to their limited branding and make decisions about things like the finish, which didn’t necessarily fit into the mould of a ‘traditional’ school book.
